If you are lucky enough to be spending a holiday in Elviria, Marbella, you will find plenty of great restaurants, bars and entertainment venues on the doorstep without having to travel far.
Elviria adventure
If you are spending a family holiday in Elviria, take a trip to Amazonia Adventure. This adventure park opened in 2011, is the largest adventure park in Andalucia and the only one right on the coast.
Just 500m. from the beach, the park has a total of 83 challenges in the trees and 20 ziplines distributed over 6 adventure circuits: MiniKids, Kids, Explorador, Jungla, Aventura and Deportivo, and 3 training circuits. You can also launch yourself on the longest treetop zipline in Andalusia, an amazing 240 m. in length.
The MiniKids area offers adventure challenges and a zipline, for kiddies from the age of 4 to 7, and also serves as a creche for parents who want to do the circuits and have nowhere to leave their little ones. Your entrance ticket lets you participate on our multi-adventure circuits for a maximum of 3 Excitement- and Adrenaline-packed Hours, which means you can go round the circuits as often as you like in that time (obviously on the circuits suited to your age or height).
Elviria bars
When you access Elviria from the east, Fuengirola direction, you will see a large Opencor supermarket on the right, and you can find a wealth of great bars and restaurants in this complex. Nu Fluid is one of the most popular, bars in Pino Golf, and serves a wide range of beers, wines and cocktails on a sunny terrace, where you can watch the world go by. This part of Elviria is thriving, and you can find Thai, Indian, Spanish and English food within a couple of minute´s walk of the Fluid Lounge. This is a great meeting place, and is situated just 100m past Opencor on the same side.
Just west of Elviria roundabout is a larger commercial complex, housing Supersol Supermarket and a wide choice of cafés, restaurants and bars. Bar Casi Casi offers a good menu with snacks, sandwiches and bar food, plus a great choice of wines and cocktails. Next door is probably one of the best places for tapas in Elviria, Bar El Barracon. Serving a vast choice of home-made tapas and raciones, including excellent goat´s cheese salad with honey, tortilla, roast pork, prawns pil pil and some of the best beef stew I have ever tried. Always busy, service is slick and friendly, and the prices are excellent. Six of us ate there recently, and had 12 tapas between us, beers, wine and drinks for the kids and the bill came to just €68. A great place for lunch, and for people watching.
Elviria restaurants
The Playwright is one of the area´s most popular restaurants. Take the second Elvira exit to get to the Playwright, and turn immediately right when you leave the road. Playwright is run by the same husband and wife team who have made Beckitt´s Restaurant in Marbella such a success. Tasty snacks are served all day plus a bar menu and lunch and dinner menus. A daily set menu is just €15 for two courses, and a couple of our favourite dishes in the past have included: deep fried brie with redcurrant jelly and tempura lemon sole fillets. An excellent Sunday brunch is also offered for €25 per person including live jazz.
If you want to enjoy some fresh fish on the beach, visit one of the many chiringuitos in Elviria or Marbesa, which is just 1km down the road, in the direction of Fuengirola (exit at Las Chapas sign and turn immediately right down to the beach road).
The Beach House Restaurant, Elviria, renowned for its fine dining on the beach, is just over the bridge from Opencor. Go directly on at the roundabout and right at the next roundabout, following signs. The location is stunning and the food is very high quality. The diverse menu offers something for everyone, and the freshest foods are always sourced and beautifully presented by the Beach House chefs.
Some of our favourites include Cannelloni filled with Smoked Salmon and Prawn Mousse, Seared Scallops with Cauliflower Purée, Tempura Prawns on French Bean, Horseradish and Sesame Seed Salad. The á la carte menus include more sumptuous dishes, including Fresh Lobster with Rocket, Parmesan and Asparagus Hollandaise, Smoked Supreme of Chicken with White Wine and Risotto Cake, and Whole Fresh Dorada, Steamed in Banana Leaves, Served with Lemon Grass, Chilli and New Potatoes. The menu changes regularly.
Papillon is another fabulous beach restaurant within easy reach of Elviria, in Marbesa. This restaurant enjoys a fab location at the end of the ´strip´ overlooking the garden and beach area at Marbesa. The interior restaurant here is modern and attractive, and the terrace is comfortable and shaded.
With plenty of parking close by, delicious food and great service, this is one of my family´s favourite restaurants. Many dishes on the menu differ from the usual beach bar fare, and include cod in batter with chips and mushy peas, moussaka, chicken kiev and shepherd´s pie. Onion soup with cheese croutons is one of my favourites along with goat´s cheese and apple salad and the ever-popular battered prawns served with chips and tartare sauce (very similar in taste to the large scampi we used to enjoy in England).
Elviria beach clubs
The famous Nikki Beach is situated at the Don Carlos Hotel, where you can rub shoulders with the jet set, spray each other with champagne or simply watch how the other half live. If you like it loud, Nikki Beach is perfect for you, and often attracts a younger crowd, especially on Sundays. The Clubs is open from April to October. The exclusive Beach Club at the Hotel Vincci Estrella del Mar is open all year round and can be enjoyed by both guests of the hotel or by private members that take up membership for the year or just for the day. This stunning beach club is located on one of the best beaches in Marbella – Golden Beach – and has many different facilities so guests can spend the whole day relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere. Elviria is home to two large supermarkets, gift shops, a chemist, a hardware store, a bakery, and a host of local stores, selling everything from fine art to souvenirs. If, however you want to splash the cash on designer clothes or exclusive gifts, take a trip to El Corte Inglés in Puerto Banus, or spend a day at La Cañada Shopping Mall, Marbella (just 10 minutes by car).
Whether you plan to visit Elviria on holiday, or you live here, you can enjoy a vast range of great restaurants and cafés on the doorstep. Situated just 10km from Marbella, Elviria is one of the most sought after places to live in the region, and you can eat, shop and drink here, without having to travel any further. If you want to rent or buy a property in Elviria, and enjoy all the benefits of being close to Marbella and Puerto Cabopino, there are plenty of bargains to be had, due to the recent downturn in the economy, and Elviria remains one of the most desirable places to stay on the Costa del Sol.
